Bernard Swiecki is a coauthor of CAR’s “Beyond the Big Leave” study, and a Senior Project Manager at the Center for Automotive Research (CAR).  He joined CAR in 1994 and is a Senior Project Manager in the Sustainability & Economic Development Group at CAR. 

Mr. Swiecki has studied the economic contribution of the automotive industry, the dynamics of automaker and supplier interaction, the impact of Information Technology on the industry, and facility retention and attraction by automotive communities.  Mr. Swiecki also manages CAR’s efforts to engage Asian automotive firms with the purpose of forming relationships between automotive industry participants in Michigan and abroad. 

Mr. Swiecki has been involved in consulting projects addressing various automotive topics.  He has authored numerous articles, as well as a column, on the automotive industry and regularly presents at conferences and industry events.

Mr. Swiecki is a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) and the Society of Automotive Analysts (SAA).  He received his B.A. from the University of Michigan in 1998 and his M.S. from Eastern Michigan University in 2003.
